Trigger warning: This article contains descriptions of domestic violence Two South Australian women who were asked to leave a women’s shelter for domestic violence victims because their former partners discovered their locations have said they were provided no follow-up support. One 41-year-old woman said she suffered extreme physical abuse, including being bashed into a concrete wall and being strangled.
“This decision is not made lightly and occurs after seeking instruction from the relevant managing agency, which will then seek alternative accommodation for their client” Another woman, 27, said she was also asked to leave a facility recently because her former partner discovered her location. She said she was given no follow-up support through her support worker from South Australia’s Domestic Violence Crisis Line.
