Some people in the movie business are working very hard to fight against and expand beyond the megastudio's formula of blockbusters.

Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron appear at CinemaCon on Thursday in Las Vegas to promote their new romantic comedy,"Long Shot." The film is one of a number of contenders hoping to find daylight in a crowded Disney movie-scape. By Steven Zeitchik Steven Zeitchik Reporter covering the business of entertainment in the U.S.

But to many exhibitors — and rival studios — this only heightens the importance of finding non-Disney hits. They are wary of one company gaining too much power, fearing what it can mean for their negotiating position. And Disney releases comparatively few movies."’The Avengers,'” Barnes said, “can’t carry us through 12 months of business.”Paramount Pictures executives were among those who believe they’ve found the answer.

Just five years ago, the leading studio by market share was Warner Bros. — with 16 percent.

Some originality at the cinema would be welcome. All these sequels and superhero movies become tiresome after awhile. But then again, as an adult I accept I am not the target market anymore.

This is a great non Disney hit. 👇
