The new SA Revenue Service boss is looking to nail tax evaders and weed out bad apples left over from the disastrous era of former commissioner Tom Moyane.The outgoing acting commissioner of the Sars, Mark Kingon, expressed his disappointment this week at having not been appointed permanently to the post.

The significant shortfall in tax revenues announced this week by the SA Revenue Service demonstrated that public finances were in “a really precarious situation”, Treasury director-general Dondo Mogajane said.Eskom’s bold promise to avoid all load shedding this winter – or at least limit it to stage 1 – is contingent on a number of optimistic assumptions.
