The leadership of the labour movement led by the state chairman, Comrade Saheed Murtala Olayinka, and his TUC counterpart, went round the headquarters of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, and its sub-stations to effect their action. In a chat with DAILY POST in Ilorin on Monday, Saheed described the action as effective and successful, adding: 'We can't say when we will end it'.
He said despite the early warning issued to the government by the labour congress to rescind the decision on the new electricity tariff among other unpopular policies slammed on the citizens of the country, no concrete solution or response has been provided. 'Hike in electricity tariff, petrol price among others have made life unbearable for the citizens particularly salary workers, we complained but government put a deaf ear to our complaints.
