It's cartel price setting between three firms. The FDA is staged by Pharma hacks who won't approve generic insulin. If we made price setting illegal and force a generic into the market, the prices go down. This would also disappear with monopsonistic Medicare price negotiating
And there is absolutely o excuse for it. Insulin has been around a very long time and is not expensive to produce. Back when I started in nursing in the 1950s it was dirt cheap even for the time. It is a disgrace and immoral.
