A man is “lucky” to be alive, albeit with spinal injuries, after an alleged hit-and-run south of Brisbane. The 42-year-old man, known only as Will, was hit by a Holden Commodore allegedly driven by a drunk and unlicenced driver on Rex Rd in Ipswich about 7.30pm on Saturday.
Moment man allegedly mowed down by car. The Holden continued on but smashed into a tree less than 1km away at the intersection of Grange Rd and Robertson Rd in Raceview. “I’m very lucky to be here,” Will told 7NEWS. Will said he was walking to the shop to buy bread when he was hit and flung over the bonnet of a car into the gutter. Neighbours came to assist him before he was taken to hospital with spinal injuries. “I didn’t know a loaf of bread was so dangerous,” he said.
