FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem has suggested Andretti should now try to buy one of F1’s existing 10 teams rather than continuing their attempt to join the grid as a new 11th entrant.
Andretti are pushing ahead with their plans to join the grid in their own right, having recently opened a UK base at Silverstone and signed vastly-experienced engineer Pat Symonds in a consultancy role once he finishes a period of gardening leave with F1.F1 did leave the door open for Andretti to enter in 2028 should General Motors, whose Cadillac brand have partnered with Andretti, follow through on their plans to build their own engine.
