The prosecution has been going over texts and phone calls related to the sex scandals at the center of the case in excruciating detail. Assistant District Attorney Joshua Steinglass has spent more than an hour presenting slide after slide showing communications, most from fall 2016, between Donald Trump’s associates and others who allegedly played a part in suppressing damaging stories about then-candidate Trump.
Peppered in between, financial records and other documents have flashed across the screen, along with a flow chart showing how, in the prosecution’s telling, it all unfolded. Steinglass has repeatedly referenced a “crazy flurry of phone activity” as Trump’s surrogates allegedly tried to insulate him from allegations about his sex life. Little of what Steinglass has presented is in dispute.
