Former AFL star Cam McCarthy has been farewelled in an emotional service in Fremantle on Wednesday. Fremantle and West Coast players were among the family and friends to pay tribute to the 29-year-old who sadly died earlier this month. McCarthy started his AFL career at the GWS Giants before joining Fremantle for the start of the 2017 season.
“We got home to our beautiful daughters … it was just good to wrap our arms around our daughters and get through what happened. “We loved him to death, he left a mark on everything he did.” McCarthy’s sisters Hannah and Jessica also spoke. “He was protective, he was loving, he was caring and all he ever wanted was the best for us. Our lives will never be the same,” Jess said. “We will never stop loving you and will try our best to make you proud”.
