After five weeks of sometimes blockbuster testimony, the trial of Donald Trump is nearing its end, with the jury sent out yesterday for deliberations. The 12 New Yorkers will talk until they decide if the former president is guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records.

Judge Juan Merchan has been re-reading some of his instructions to jury members, as they had requested. Some legal analysts have pointed out that the Trump Tower meeting was central to the prosecution case, that the three men met to map out the hush-money scheme that ultimately led to the alleged crime.Remember the alleged crime is the falsification of business records with a view to committing election fraud. The Pecker testimony re-read in court hasn't been about false records but about the felony crime bolted on, the attempt to influence the election.
