Responding to a question from Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin, the Taoiseach said that the ODCE may probe the FAI under company law.
Deloitte are the official auditors of the FAI annual accounts and they declared that Cumann Peile na hÉireann, the FAI, is contravening section 281 and 282 of the Companies Act. It is understood that once a H4 form is sent to the CRO, it is then obliged to send a copy of that to the ODCE.Meanwhile, the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Sport, Shane Ross, said the FAI has written to him today to indicate the organisation's board will step down.
Earlier, Mr Ross said that yesterday's announcement that the former CEO had voluntarily stepped aside pending an independent investigation "fell far short of expectations". The FAI has engaged with Sport Ireland on proposals for the restructuring of the board, which will be brought to the AGM in July or at an EGM at an earlier date.
what an absolute joke our political system is when you have Ross with his posh D4 accent sitting at the government table. totally out of his depth. why would any of you be surprised by his handling of the fai fiasco
Why doesn't he step down?
Even the hapless FAI seem to be more fleet of foot than Shane Ross - they are now leaving him totally impotent!
Strange to hear Ross being so sanctimonious !!! His handling of many issues leave a lot to be desired, as they say people in glasshouses.........!!!!
Honestly, I legitimately think they pull these stunts on purpose (well, Obviously) but I mean it seems you can screw up, Basically get sacked. Massive golden handshake and incredible pension!!!! Absolutely nothing to discourage this behaviour!! Pure joke!
And Ross said “WOW”
Well Shame Ross did not contribute one single iota to get them to step down. Useless.
Is he going too?
Step down keeping their pension and most likely with a very large golden handshake.
