A woman feared trapped in the rubble of a Western Sydney townhouse, levelled in a suspected gas explosion, has been identified. Jasmin Mhey was the only person unaccounted for after the building in Whalan, about 45km west of the CBD, exploded on Saturday.

Five people were treated for minor injuries following the blast, including two women in their 60s and 70s, one of whom was in a wheelchair. A dog was also rescued from the ruins. Search efforts continued well into Sunday afternoon for the missing woman. 7NEWS understands she had been in a room under a large concrete slab at the time of the blast. Sources say “miracles do happen” but concede it would require one for her to be found alive.
