CALGARY, Alberta - A right-of-center party that champions the energy industry swept to power in Canada’s main oil-producing province of Alberta on Tuesday, setting up a fight with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau over climate change just months ahead of a federal election.
In an often belligerent campaign, Kenney promised to stand up for Albertans against Trudeau and other politicians he said were taking the province and its oil and gas for granted. “This means vindication of the very, very difficult defeat that we received in 2015. That was a protest vote, this is a positive vote,” said Marguerite Denis, who co-managed the campaign of one UCP candidate.
Kenney, a 50-year-old former federal cabinet minister, vowed to take more decisive action on jobs and the economy. Both Kenney and Notley blame Trudeau for a lack of progress on new oil export pipelines.
CorbeilFran There they go again. Nothing new. Angry old men and their fear.
Right-wing Hahaha it seems that anything short of AOC and Bernie is right wing for you clowns now. Conservatives are centrist who just want to get the province working again.
If by fight you mean the absolute ass kicking Trudeau is about to revive in October, you are correct. Congratulations Alberta vote AndrewScheer
Best news all year.
steph93065 Justin from Canada is a joke leader.
Left Wing defeated .. why does rotters not post that.... yawn
Trudeau et al should sell them the concept of global warming ASAP. After all, it's for their sake too.
The West flexes it’s political (and with it economic) muscles again. JustinTrudeau is gonna have a harder time dealing with Alberta than doing a 3-man handshake.
Exxon wins again.
Leading candidate:
Hopefully Trudeau is next and then we get rid of our useless NDP in BC
Congratulations Canada!!! 🇨🇦
Alt-right racist party.
Good luck with that Canada. I think the Americans have landed in your country.
