A man in the US state of Colorado has had an incredible escape from an attempted homicide, saved by the chain he was wearing around his neck. A bullet from a gun that was fired at him became lodged in his silver-coloured necklace, narrowing missing his neck. He escaped with only a puncture wound, according to police in Commerce City, northeast of Denver.
The bullet was fired during an argument and would have ended up in the victim’s neck had it not instead become lodged in the 10mm-wide chain, police said. The chain was able to blunt the force of a .22 caliber bullet and prevent it from causing further damage. The person suspected of firing the bullet has been arrested and faces attempted homicide charges. While the chain has been colloquially referred to as silver, the police department isn’t sure.
