Queensland State of Origin coach Billy Slater has bitten his tongue when asked for his thoughts on Joseph Sula’ali’i’s knockout hit on Reece Walsh. The series opener was turned upside down on Wednesday when, seven minutes into the clash, the Blues centre came off the line and flattened Walsh with a shoulder hit to his head.
Maroons record State of Origin series-opening win over Blues. Sua’ali’i was given a rare Origin send-off and Walsh was immediately ruled out of the remainder of the game, showing Category 1 concussion symptoms. He laid motionless on the ground while trainers rushed out to be by his side after the hit. Shortly after the incident, the host broadcaster had Slater mic’d up for a mid-game interview.
