The morning show host, 61 and his wife Annie Breckell have been served a petition by HMRC after finding themselves £6,409 in the red after they filed their company's accounts in December last year.

BBC Breakfast star Charlie Stayt's company has been in the red for seven years, MailOnline can reveal.

But documents show that the last time it was in the black was in 2016 when it had assets of just £173.Stayt's company Stayt Limited - lists both him and his wife Annie as directors alongside Hogbens Dunphy Secretaries - an accountants and tax consultants based in central LondonThe couple live in a lavish £2.

This was reduced to £74,000 in 2016 but thereafter the accounts for the company make no reference to this 'overdrawn directors' loan account'. Despite being one of the BBC's most high-profile presenters, Charlie largely keeps his personal life under wraps and is not on social media and often shies away from celebrity events.
