Swaths of the Tasmanian media market have been gobbled up by a Liberal-linked PR firm. Its most recent client is the powerful salmon industry.

The multi-decade shambles in the traditional news business shows little sign of sorting itself out. And while attention is focused on ABC News, News Corp and Nine Entertainment , at the local end, things couldn’t be more dire.Zoom in further and it gets real grim. In 2019, Font Public Relations bought into the vibrant Tasmanian media market, picking up.

“Prime Minister, we implore you – be as good as your word, and deliver a positive decision on our futures, quickly,” the letter read. Signatures included Rockliff, Abetz, local politicians and then assorted interests, including those from West Coast Council, Tasmanian Small Business Council, BioMar and Polyfoam Australia. What links the group? They’re all current clients of Font PR.
