Victim claimed she was subjected to a hostile work environment at a company in State College.

U.S. Middle District Judge Matthew W. Brann on Wednesday granted the motion of American HomePatient without requiring the firm to post a bond.It asks the award of compensatory damages be reduced to $200,000 and the $20 million in punitive damages either be vacated or reduced to the amount of the compensatory damages.

The company contends the two awards are excessive and Holmes failed to establish her hostile work environment claim. Brann scheduled a July 25 hearing on both issues. Holmes has focused exclusively on defending the award as it stands and provides no direction to the court if it decides the punitive damages award must be reduced, he said.
