It’s time to get an extra blanket out, with Aussies set to shiver though the coldest morning of the year on Wednesday, with temperatures set to plummet across the country. In Sydney, polar blasts from the south will push temperatures as low as 6C, before reaching a top of 16C. On Tuesday, the Bureau of Meteorology’s Christie Johnson, appeared on Sunrise with the dire weather warning. “It is polar air.

“The long-range forecast for the rest of June suggests average or below average. “However, when we move into July and August, we are still expecting it to be warmer than average,” Johnson said. Thursday: 6C-19C, with a 30 per cent chance of rain Friday: 8C- 17C, with a 20 per cent chance of rain Melbourne Wednesday: 2C- 13C, with a 20 per cent chance of rain.
