Crews discovered asbestos-containing mastic, a type of adhesive, during the ongoing renovation of a portion of Central School. The presence of asbestos-containing materials will add to the overall costs of the ongoing addition at Glencoe’s Central School, officials said.
Edelheit sensed the mastic was original to that wing of the Central School building that he said was constructed in 1967. “The age of the building dictates you always have to be on the lookout for it,” she said. “It was in the mastic, it was never exposed. It was only a problem when they were doing construction.”
