‘Unless positive action is taken by the Government to address crippling costs, more pubs will be forced out of business.’

Almost 1,000 pubs in Britain called last orders for the final time last year as the industry grapples with cost pressures and business rate hikes.People in the industry are calling on the Government to stem the tide of ‘crippling costs’ forcing publicans to lay off staff, up their prices or shut up shop.

UK Hospitality chief executive Kate Nicholls said: ‘Pubs are being hit with a myriad of cost pressures at a time of unprecedented political uncertainty and unstable consumer confidence.
