THE manufacturing sector has been the most target industry for ransomware attacks in the Philippines and in the Asean region, as well.

In a press briefing on Tuesday, Palo Alto Networks regional vice president of Asean at Palo Alto Networks Steven Scheurmann pointed out that the Philippines faces significant vulnerability to evolving cyberthreats such as ransomware and AI-driven attacks.

Scheurmann shared, “2023 is a breakthrough year for AI and it is transforming the enterprise. However, adversaries are also exploiting the power of AI to accelerate, scale and innovate its attacks. With its high internet penetration rate and use of multi-devices, enterprises in the Philippines are highly susceptible to attacks.

Gorospe said the DSWD is also going to automate its warehouses to ensure relief goods would have a longer shelf life. “Actually, we have an ambitious project to automate our warehouses. It ‘s got to be at par with the modern logistics companies in the country.
