Jurgen Klopp has created the blueprint for the current Liverpool side, now it is up to Arne Slot to take command, add a piece of his own creative flair and get out the silverware Reds supporters so eagerly desire.
With the passing of time, naturally comings and goings have meant Liverpool's attack is in a much-changed state to how it was back then. Slot arrives to find a plethora of options, plenty of exciting names rumoured to sign and, most importantly, ideas of his own to implement. The Dutchman could impress upon the team the 4-2-3-1 system that has served him so well in his homeland, which would call for further alterations in the months to come.
Also generating a lot of noise at the start of this summer's transfer window is Luis Diaz. Obviously already a Red, it has been speculated that Spanish giants Barcelona will test Liverpool's resolve ahead of September's deadline day. Salah's contract is due to expire next summer and the club will work on that, but in the meantime it will be Slot's job to get experienced members of the squad on-side and part of his project. As the club's top scorer every season since 2017, the 32-year-old is simply too good to consider leaving out.
Diogo Jota can play up front and on both flanks and shouldn't be limited, though as an option looks best-suited to taking up the central position of a front four. Cody Gakpo is similarly versatile, though his stand-out performances on the left flank for Ronald Koeman's Netherlands team at the European Championships prove his natural position is on the left-hand side.
