ALDI supermarket has confirmed a new major change to the meat aisle in selected stores. The retail giant has revealed that even more of its beef mince buys are now available in plastic bags, instead of plastic trays. In June last year, ALDI confirmed that its Jindurra Station 2-Star Beef Mince would be available in the bags, which uses 70 per cent less plastic than traditional packaging.
“ALDI is continuing to remove and reduce plastic across our stores, and are always looking for ways to trial new packaging innovations across our range to help achieve our goal of reducing plastic packaging by 25 per cent by 2025,” the spokesperson said. At present, the new packs are available in Queensland and haven’t been rolled out nationally at this stage. The packs were spotted by a Queensland ALDI customer, who applauded the move.
