The Volvo EX30 accounted for 30.8 percent of new electric vehicles registered in SA so far this year, with Volvo claiming 46 percent overall.

Added to this was the fact that the EX30 is the fastest production model Volvo ever built, mustering a 0-100km/h time of 3.6 seconds, coupled with a driving range of up to 442 kilometres from a full charge. “The new Volvo EX30 is already proving exceptionally popular with local buyers, having accounted for almost a third of total electric vehicle sales in the country over the first four months of 2024, while also claiming the title of SA’s best-selling electric car,” Volvo South Africa enthused in a release shared with Hypertext.

“During the first four months of the year, the EX30 made up 30.8% of the country’s total all-electric vehicle sales , making it the most popular EV by a considerable margin. According toto industry representative body naamsa, the XC40 Recharge – which was SA’s best-selling EV in 2023 – took second place, accounting for 12.8% of registrations in this space,” the company highlighted.
