Business leaders are urging the Opposition Leader to state his position on the coal mine to ensure voters know what they are supporting when they go to the polls | Dana_Adele

Australian Mines and Metals Association chief executive Steve Knott said jobseekers, businesses and regional communities "deserve certainty" about Labor's stance."It's not that hard for a political leader to say whether they support a project or not, given they've had the best part of a decade to consider it," Mr Knott said.

Labor's Dawson candidate, Belinda Hassan, added fuel to the fire while campaigning with Mr Shorten in the seat on Tuesday, saying a future Labor government may review the Adani mine's federal environmental approval. While other Labor candidates in Queensland mining seats have expressed their support for the Adani project – calling for the Galilee Basin to be opened up to create thousands of jobs – that is not the case for those targeting Melbourne seats.

Josh Burns, Labor's pick to replace Michael Danby in the marginal seat of Macnamara, told a candidate forum earlier this month he opposed Adani. "I don't want to see this thing built, and I don't want to see any other mine in the Galilee Basin being built – not Clive Palmer's and not Gina Rinehart's, and not some of the other mines that are waiting," Mr Burns said to applause from the inner-Melbourne crowd."I know that there is a lot of pressure on the Labor Party on this, and I hear you and I am absolutely with you on this issue," Mr Burns said. "I don't want to see this mine go ahead.

Zac Beers, the Labor candidate for Flynn, in Queensland, has signed the CFMMEU pledge, as has the party's candidate for Capricornia, coal miner Russell Robertson.

JulianBurnside Dana_Adele He will not get my vote even though he committed to changing the rules

Dana_Adele Bugger this damn mine and bugger the greedy scum who want it

Dana_Adele Not sure it's business leaders urging a call, more like environmental lobbyists trying to wedge him whilst they have a chance. His view is pretty clear - ambivalent. Adani doesn't define their environmental policy.

Dana_Adele It's not just Business Leaders who want an answer to this question.

JulianBurnside Dana_Adele Why the heck would business leaders (I assume across the economy) be interested in Shorten’s approach to Adani - anyway I think he has spelt it out on numerous occasions but your not listening

Dana_Adele In QLD - For Adani Speaking to Greens voters - Against Adani We all know this to be true

JulianBurnside Dana_Adele Business leaders couldn’t give a shit about the voters!!

Dana_Adele Shorten's dilemma. How can he reconcile the two opposing viewpoints to be found at the opposite ends of this vast country of ours. Adani or no Adani.

Dana_Adele there goes kids jobs at mc kfc etc

Dana_Adele Tell us Mr. SHORTEN 😂

Dana_Adele It’s either yes or no shorten needs to man up and state his position you can’t vote for someone who isn’t direct

Dana_Adele Can see he will allow the mine. That’s why he isn’t saying anything because he will lose many voters if he comes out. All those voters will then swing to the parties who marched along side of us at the Adani Convoy

Dana_Adele Forget Adani. You’d have to be an absolute numpty to vote for a party that supports 22 week abortions.. 🥴

Dana_Adele Unions bank roll Labor with members fees Labor say there is no future in Coal Labor preference the Greens when you vote Labor & the Greens want to shut down coal mining. How smart are union members?

Dana_Adele Yesterday billshortenmp couldn't make up his mind but yes we need answer I think I can say that the majority of Australians are against Adani but either way we are screwed both Bill & Scott Morrison won't stop Adani to much $$$ involved

Dana_Adele A real leader has vision, and understands the consequences of ignoring science. Quit sitting on the fence, BillShortenMP | AusVotes2019

Dana_Adele He can't. He doesn't know what his position is on anything let alone Adani.

Dana_Adele Here's where he masters double speak..

Dana_Adele Pray tell have these big businesses been sharing and caring to the electorate at large these past 6 years? As Executive salaries and bonuses have gone through the roof. Remember the banks what they have done to ordinary people. Forget this demand, don't answer it!!

Dana_Adele Don’t fall for it Bill, it is the old rope a dope. These business leaders will include the CEO’s of the big 4 banks who have already stated that Adana does not stack up on economic or environmental basis. AustralianLabor
