Rain is set to drench all Australian capitals, bar Darwin, in what is expected to be a wet week ahead. A belt of winter cold fronts is expected to sweep across the nation, bringing with it rain for much of the south and continuing into parts of the northern states. “The start of winter has seen welcome rain over southern states, but dry conditions over the northern half of the nation,” 7NEWS Meteorologist and Weather Presenter Tony Auden said.
“This is allowing a conveyor belt of active winter cold fronts to sweep across the nation, not only bringing rain to southern states, but also linking up with some tropical moisture to bring rain a bit further north,” he said. “For the most part, we’re not expecting anything too nasty this week, just a good soaking for much of the nation.” Brisbane is in for a wet week, with rain expected on Thursday, before a brief reprieve on Friday, and continuing on Saturday throughout the week.
