A 19-year-old man is in custody after he showed up at Newcastle Labor MP Tim Crakanthorp’s office carrying a knife, “tactical” gear and neo-Nazi propaganda. The teenager was arrested about 12:30pm on Wednesday, after he allegedly distributed a disturbing manifesto. Police did not detail what was written in the manifesto. Crakanthorp released a statement about the incident. “I understand that there was an incident in Newcastle today,” he told the Sydney Morning Herald.
“I have been advised that the individual briefly walked in and out of my office, he left before making any contact with my staff.” NSW Police also released a statement. “Following further inquiries, officers became aware of the existence of a document that had been circulated to a number of public figures and media outlets,” a police statement said.
