The CDK Global cyberattack aftermath took a positive turn Wednesday after what the company said was a successful test reboot of a small group of dealers. The company didn't say if any of those were in Canada. The president of one of CDK's rivals — Dominion DMS — said several auto manufacturers informed her that Dominion and all of its U.S. competitors would be audited for their cybersecurity practices over the coming months.
"We have successfully brought a small initial test group of dealers live on the Dealer Management System , and once validation is complete, we will begin phasing in other dealers," the company said in a late afternoon statement. All DMS companies will likely be audited by automakers in the coming months to make sure their cybersecurity protocols can help prevent future events, Dominion DMS President Sharon Kitzman told sibling publication Automotive News on June 26.
