Kal Mohamed took over running the family business which began over 45 years ago. His father arrived from Yemen and soon after started a newsagents in the Anfield area.
"I loved the shop game and I’ve been in trade nearly all my life. He taught me what to do and I’ve implemented it and moved it on. The newsagents run by family, and friends was originally a single corner shop until they expanded into a double shop. The fireworks shop was separated from the newsagents more than 20 years ago.
"The fireworks progressed and keeping the shop open all year we've gone massive. We do gender reveals, weddings, parties, birthdays, even funerals are becoming quite popular and Valentine's Day." Kal said: "The last few years it's been very special. Last year it was something that hit me because I seen the community, the atmosphere, the commitment of the boys, the fans and all these different countries getting together, and there was something special in the air. I felt, what a great atmosphere.
"We’re the main sponsors and I’m proud to be. It's been worth every penny. It's been brilliant, absolutely brilliant".
