Controversial equestrian Shane Rose has opened up on his “rocky road” to the Paris Olympics after being selected to the team on Thursday. Rose, 51, has made the team after he recently created headlines for wearing a mankini while riding a horse at a charity fancy dress event. Rose was stood down after the incident at the NSW Southern Highlands and later investigated by an Equestrian Australia integrity panel.

“Our Eventing team is strong and together if we all perform at our best we have a great chance of standing on that podium. I look forward to the challenge and hope to make everyone who has supported me on this journey proud. “So many people have contributed to having me 100 per cent fit and ready to perform.” Rose said he was to win a gold medal at the Olympics there could be a “gold-kini somewhere.” “I feel as strong as I ever have,” he said.
