LONDON — European stocks opened slightly higher Thursday, with the U.K.'s general election in focus in the region.index was up 0.2% in early trade, as sectors were mixed. Banks rose 0.9% while health care dipped 0.13%.jumped 9.7% to the top of the index. JPMorgan analysts said in a Wednesday note that the company's automotive division should benefit from price increases, cost savings and reimbursements in the second quarter, according to a Reuters report.The U.K.
Yields on U.K. government bonds, known as gilts, were slightly higher at 8:15 a.m. in London, with the up one basis point to 4.175%. The British pound was near-flat against both the U.S. dollar and the euro.were mostly up Thursday as Japan's Topix crossed its all-time high of 2,886.50, previously set in December 1989.
