The Finance Minister Jack Chambers has given an update on cost of living measures in the upcoming budget.
Minister Chambers, who took over the role two weeks ago, confirmed last week that the budget would take place this year on the 1st of October. When asked if the tax package could result in people being €1,000 a year better off, Minister Chambers said that Government has “made no decisions on what the tax bracket will be” ahead of the Budget 2025 announcement.
“Obviously, the tax package last year of €1.1 billion, it will be in and around €1.4 billion this year. We have to decide what the mix of that will be. Clearly, workers are our priority. They're seeing wage growth and they need to get a break in Budget 2025.”
