PUTRAJAYA: In a bid to boost local tourism to tour operators from Asean countries and India, the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) organised a two-day programme to connect with these travel industry players.

The MATTA Travel Exchange Mart , organised in partnership with Tourism Malaysia, is aimed at connecting Malaysian tourism products with tour operators from countries such as India, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philip­pines.

He said the first edition of MTEX was organised 12 years ago in Melaka, but it was recently revived given its potential to boost tourism from Asean countries and India.“Based on the umber of participants and initial feedback, it’s going to be successful and we hope to have it annually,” he said in a press conference at the event’s opening ceremony yesterday.
