The second installment in Kevin Costner’s four-part “Horizon” film series will no longer release in theaters on Aug. 16, the latest struggle for Costner’s decades-long, multimillion dollar Western passion project that has already attracted poor reviews from critics and underwhelming box office results for the first film.

The first chapter of “Horizon” is still playing in theaters and will release on video on demand July 16 and will eventually release on Max, though a streaming release date has not yet been announced. Some theaters had already sold tickets for Chapter 2, which will be refunded, according to The Hollywood Reporter.a dismal $11 million in its opening weekend, a concerning start for the film that reportedly had a $100 million production budget—of whichhe personally funded $38 million by mortgaging his Santa Barbara home and deferring his salary from the “Horizon” films.
