The unit was most recently a vegan shop which closed within five months of opening

A Turkish restaurant in Nottingham will now begin the process of opening, according to its owner. In October 2023, signs stating that the eatery was 'coming soon,' were put up following the closure of Lime Green Organic Vegan shop, which previously occupied the unit on Gedling Street near Sneinton Market for less than five months.

Before that, the site was home to the Murat Food Centre for over ten years, which relocated to the nearby Bath Street in August 2022. Nedjet Kaya owns all three businesses, and says work can now began on the Turkish restaurant after nine months of delays due to concerns over an approved extension of student accommodation that would see the demolition of the units, which has now expired."We’ve been waiting to open the Turkish restaurant," he said.

"Now we're going to open the restaurant, now we know." The news follows the rapid closure of Mr Kaya's former vegan shop venture, which sold fresh fruit and vegetables and frozen foods, as well as a variety of other foodstuffs and baby and cleaning products. In October 2023, he told Nottinghamshire Live that there was "no market" for the shop and that he "expected it would be better than it was," despite shoppers previously predicting it would be a success due to its city centre location and the large student population.
