A lot has to happen before Intel can successfully break into the discrete GPU space dominated by AMD and NVIDIA. Unlike its previous attempts though, Intel has assembled a solid team of experienced outsiders that have already successfully launched a myriad of GPUs across all market segments.

. For many months, that company has been slowly releasing information about its discrete GPU aspirations, which should come to fruition sometime in 2020 if all goes according to plan.

In an effort to build out its graphics-related marketing an engineering teams, Intel has hired a number of former AMD executives and engineers., a former lead architect at AMD, and made him SVP of the company’s silicon engineering team, which handles everything from SoC development to silicon integration.
