Bill Shorten is set to visit the Spencer Gulf in South Australia to unveil plans for a Renewable Energy Zone in the region.

Labor says the remote area has shown potential to produce wind, solar and hydro energy.

It follows Labor’s announcement last year that the party would establish a series of ‘zones’ to develop Australia’s renewable energy industry, and deliver its 50 per cent renewable energy target. The zone will encompass the stretch from the north of Adelaide, along the Yorke Peninsula, and around the top of the Spencer Gulf down to Whyalla.
