South Africa has seen a massive spike in car hijackings over the years.

A security company managing director, Andre Aiton, says South Africa has seen a massive spike in car hijackings over the years, leading to a rise in the need for enhanced security.According to crime statistics from the police, around 66 vehicles were hijacked daily.

“We have seen certain factors change when it comes to crime over the last couple of years, which has namely been the more attacking type of violent crime. So it’s child abduction, whether it’s hijackings or vehicle theft.

The Civilian Crime Intelligence Network has set up command centres across the country, with an emphasis on a coordinated approach to crime.Crime experts believe a better relationship between the authorities and the public will also go a long way in bringing the cases down, urging the public to report these crimes when they happen.
