Minister Michael Masutha expressed disappointment at the low number of registered inmates in the country’s 240 prisons. sabcnews saelections2019 IEC

He says the low number of registered inmates is a concern. The low number is attributed to many inmates not having the required R140 needed to apply for ID book.

Also fellow prisoners discourage each other from voting as they believe this will identify other undetected crimes they may have committed.

Why should they vote because after serving time they will be told about criminal records when applying for employment? Thats double punishment for them.

MorningLiveSABC They should not be allowed to vote. This rule that they can vote is flawed and should be revoked

Do u blame them, They feed up of the treatment behind these walls. Amend the law for the inmates to meet a woman at least once a month, Believe u me they will all register to vote.

SakinaKamwendo Lol, only now he sees the list of the registered prisoners?😂😂 Always last to know

They should be forced to vote these criminals

MorningLiveSABC Wow! Now that is disappointing for sure... out of thousands and thousands of inmates? 🤔

I find it very ironic that masutha pretend to be disappointed, this correctional institution has normalised inmates'human rights infringement:::how do you require money from inmates to obtain ID'S
