President Cyril Ramaphosa has cast his vote in Chiawelo, Soweto. He has commended the people of South Africa for coming out in their numbers to exercise their democratic right. He says this reminds him of the first democratic election in 1994. Ramaphosa and First Lady Dr Tshepo Motsepe cast their vote at Hitekani Primary School in Chiawelo, Soweto.
Ramaphosa is encouraging eligible voters to participate in these elections, saying their votes will ensure the country’s democracy remains vibrant and inclusive. “Fellow South Africans, it is 25 years since we all won the right to vote, when South Africans of all races from different backgrounds and different parts in our country cast their ballots in the democratic election,” says Ramaphosa.
