The Northern Cape Education Department says it has put in place a curriculum recovery plan to ensure that learners catch up on the work they missed last week. The department’s head of communications, Lehuma Ntuane says, “We are happy to report that all the affected schools have since reopened and that learners are back in school.
Another parent says, “We are pleased that the schools have reopened. It was really a concern when the schools were closed because if children are just sitting at home, they miss a lot of school work. They are already on their third quarter so it is best now that they are back in school.” The Departments of Education and Health in the Northern Cape have taken steps to contain the measles outbreak in Delportshoop.
At least four schools in the area have been closed due to the outbreak, which started at Delportshoop Combined School.
