By Robert Costa Robert Costa National political reporter covering the White House, Congress and campaigns Email Bio Follow May 12 at 10:39 AM Sen. Cory Booker, a Democratic presidential candidate, struck a more cautious note than one of his rivals on Sunday when asked about whether the federal government should break up major companies such as Facebook.

Elizabeth Warren , another Democratic presidential contender, who has called for major tech companies that have grown with mergers, such as Facebook, Amazon and Google, to be unraveled with stricter regulations.[Facebook’s co-founder: ‘It’s time to break up Facebook’]

“There’s no question in my mind that there needs to be serious regulation and that has not been happening,” Harris said. “It is essentially a utility that has gone unregulated. As far as I’m concerned, that’s got to stop.”

BoSnerdley 😂A lefty sticking up for THE MAN.

This MF is so irrelevant it's sad.B1 ADOS

SundayThoughts Is Cory Booker's position related to the $1⃣0⃣0⃣,0⃣0⃣0⃣,0⃣0⃣0⃣ Mark Zuckerberg gave him when he was mayor of Newark? 🙄 CoryBooker SenBooker Cory2020

BoSnerdley There's a shocker. Why would he want to suppress the suppressors?

BoSnerdley As long as Facebook continues to sensor conservatives he’s down with their hypocrisy. The second Facebook impinges on his freedom of speech? Regulate It!!!

plainspoken2015 CoryFacebooker

BoSnerdley That means we should break up FB & Twitter right now!

plainspoken2015 Facebook delivers the main source of news through it's algorithm based feeds to just shy of 50% of Americans.. and a majority of it is deceptive headlines full of actual bullshit 💰 They have a propaganda monopoly because it's more profitable than facts

to late ....we are going to smash them ...all to bits .......sinking the great ships of success down to paddle boats ......and rightly so ...we are the power ....not the brand!

Guy whose OpenSecrets page reads like a who’s who of giant conglomerates doesn’t want to lose money

So...starting to defend Big companies over the people?

Cory (The Bathroom) Booker...... No one is listening to you.

Well he’s canceled, has he not paid attention to what Facebook has done? He’s also for health companies taking money for them.

How do candidates pander to the democratic base and not do irreversible damage to their chances in a general election?

Standard oil was broken up because it exerted to much power over the government do to its undo influence with Facebook being political and suppressing free speech in favor of marxists or leftists it is now a threat to any free non marxist country. Leftist means communist

He also expresses caution on doing anything about drug prices. PS. They give him a lot of money.

Of course he does! He loves censorship! Taking peoples rights away.

Capitalism drives a company to monopoly rule, then we step in and say ‘no,no,no, too big!’. Breaking up a huge company hasn’t worked well in our past. Regulation to prevent bad behavior may be the only answer

One aspect that’s different than the telephone monopoly is the centralized nature of FB. How would you break it up beyond making Instagram a separate company again?

Too Big to Break Up!

He has no ability to audit the Facebook money given to Newark when he was Mayor FaceBooker

Sorry, folks but Facebook ain't Standard Oil or AT&T. If you don't like it, just don't login.

Opinion: Every Democratic candidate except Joe Biden is running for a VP position including SenBooker, simply because they are not Presidential material and electable.

There is no lack of evidence on the need to break up large conglomerates. There should be no hesitation or disagreement on objectives. Just tell us how you’d do it, CoryBooker.

I guess we know now who butters his biscuits

“If we break them up, we lose our monopoly on free speech” ~CoryBooker

Crazy how that works.... Booker cautions against breaking up big companies and simultaneously big companies donate to PAC's that benefit Booker.

Who?

This tells me he has Facebook stock.

He's wrong.

Of course he does

Should just get rid of the total shit show that is FB. Why people still subject themselves to it is beyond me. It’s like purposely hanging out in an outhouse at a week long outdoor festival.

If he were alive then, he would probably have wept about the breakup of Ma Bell.
