HARARA - Zimbabwe has started rolling power cuts lasting up to eight hours that will also hit mines, a schedule from the state power utility showed on Monday, after reduced output at both the largest hydro plant and ageing coal-fired generators.

The power cuts will add to mounting public anger against President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government as Zimbabweans grapple with an economic crisis that has seen shortages of U.S. dollars, fuel, food and medicines as well as soaring inflation that is eroding earnings and savings. “The power shortfall is being managed through load shedding in order to balance the power supply available and the demand,” ZETDC said in a public notice.

Mining accounts for more than three-quarters of Zimbabwe’s export earnings and any power cuts in the sector will affect production and exports.

Power cuts are not unique to Zimbabwe: All African countries from Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia & Nigeria have their fair share too.

The Chinese government has not adopted the industry proposal, but it is under consideration. making other materials from carbon has been around but I guess the techs are not shared publicly. pressure and heat are the 2 minimum elements you need to transform carbon. you can use water (H and O) to mix the coal into a good consistency and bake it in pressure cookers. according to my research, you can mix 1kg of coal powder with 350ml of H20 and bake at 51 psi and 1301 fahrenheit for 10 seconds to produce zinc. and you can mess with the variables to produce different metals.
