Mr Akeredolu says 'we would be shortchanging ourselves if we failed to tap into the legal Marijuana Market'

The Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has advised the Federal Government to explore the opportunities in the cannabis business.

“With an estimated value of $145 Billion in 2025, we would be shortchanging ourselves if we failed to tap into the legal Marijuana Market”. Clarifying the governor’s statement on Tuesday, his spokesperson, Yemi Olowolabi, said Mr Akeredolu’s call was part of his drive to industrialise Ondo and expand job opportunities in the state.

Mr Akeredolu’s position on marijuana is shared by the former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress , Omoyele Sowere, who during the electioneering campaigns called for the legalisation of marijuana instead of burning them by NDLEA.Countries like Australia, Puerto, Rico, Poland, Czech Republic, Croatia, and Macedonia allow the use of marijuana for medical purpose.
