You wouldn’t expect the grandson of one of the Philippines’ iconic business titans to be working in a windowless storage warehouse tucked in one of the more nondescript streets of Makati City.
At the start, Howard followed his brothers – Hans Jr. and Harvey – to the University of Melbourne where he took up a degree in Finance and Commerce. During his days Down Under, he had heard of a well-known multinational investment company notorious for its punishing long hours yet high pay. Call it serendipity when Howard accidentally stumbled upon an episode of Storage Wars, an American reality television series where people bid and auction off abandoned storage units. But before Howard could dive head-first into a completely novel endeavor for the Philippines, he spent eight months researching on self-storage, available facilities and the prime locations he could rent in the future.
In 2016, after a year of extensive research and planning, Howard took the calculated risk and left the Macquarie Group to start his storage enerprise.
