A new chapter for one of Australia's most history car factories. 9News

The last Ford Falcon rolled off the production line in Broadmeadows back in October 2016, signalling the end of an era in Australian car manufacturing and the loss of a further 600 jobs.

Melbourne-based development company Pelligra Group emerged as the winning bidder for the sites at Broadmeadows and Geelong, purchasing the properties that were valued at about $75 million when placed on the market last year for an undisclosed sum.Pelligra has pledged to spend $500 million acquiring and developing the sites, which are roughly the size of 13 Melbourne Cricket Ground ovals.
