BUSINESS MAVERICK: Corporate SA pushes into Poland’s land of promise and prosperity By Ruan Jooste duritz79

For SA companies, the push into Poland comes from the uncertainty surrounding the local economy. Analysts believe it is forcing local corporates to look abroad for diversification and risk hedging local risks and growth prospects. They argue that the attraction for SA capital ranges from anything between high yields to stable currencies as well as access to cheaper debt.

Success has been mixed with property companies. Certain retailers and other operations have performed well, while health care has been a slightly tougher nut to crack. When it comes to migration, Brexit can have a positive impact on the Polish economy. A key goal from the point of view of Poland’s economic interests should be to use Brexit to reverse migration trends and attract back some of the tens of thousands of Poles living and working in Britain. Thus, Brexit may positively influence Poland’s labour market and long-term economic growth.

It did the same in 2003, when the retailer closed six test stores in Chile, while it is testing mrpHome and apparel stores in Australia. The group has consolidated its three apparel stores in Australia into one. On a request for an interview, CEO Graham O’Connor said he would discuss the matter only once the transaction was complete and announced.

Marx says that in 2018, the business recovered off a pretty subdued base, and the Polish portion is still quite small in light of the larger Life Healthcare Group, particularly after the acquisition of Alliance Medical — a leading European diagnostics provider in 2017.

Where government gets it right, the private sector and SOEs get it spectacularly wrong. You to recite case law pretty well but one obvious point that is being missed is the respective boards make up and how it came to be. Due to enforced governmental policy via BEE we have a scenario by which certain role players being selected due there political conections. The process is filled with corruption abd unetchical behavior but the company is blind to the process itself. This has a massive ripple effect as these boards are involved in driving the top management structure IE who gets employed etc. King codes etc is nothing more than a guiding principle and a framework and non compliance and there is no real framework of real enforement as the respective boards are made up of people there out of personal interest.
