Hawks arrest 8 suspects in R4 billion alleged diamond investment scam - SABC News

Hawks Spokesperson Colonel Philani Nkwalase says, “A multi-disciplinary operation led by Northern Cape Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation unit resulted in the arrest of eight suspects who are alleged to have been involved in the diamond investment scam.”

“The operation, which resumed last night, rounded up suspects in Gauteng and North West. The suspects include a couple wherein the husband is alleged to be the mastermind behind the scam along with his wife. More arrests are imminent,” Nkwalase adds. The suspects are expected to appear in Bronkhospruit Magistrate’s Court in Pretoria on Thursday on charges of fraud, money laundering, theft, and racketeering.’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation unit has led to the arrest of 8 suspects in Gauteng and North West last night, who are alleged to have been involved in a diamond investment scam.
