An Australian company has revealed it is offering its workers a $1,000"thank you" payment as its CEO moved to acknowledge the"fantastic" efforts of staff.Thousands of Qantas staff will receive an extra $1,000 as a"thank you" from the airline which is continuing to rebuild its reputation after a series of scandals.
"Importantly, I want to thank our people for their dedication and commitment during the year. I hear stories of their can-do attitude every day," Ms Hudson told the AGM. "Their energy and innovative thinking will be essential to the ongoing work to restore our reputation." "I also recognise that we will not always agree and will not be able to meet some people's expectations every time.
Workers who are part of the Qantas Engineers' Alliance, which comprises the AMWU, the AWU and the ETU, are fighting for a five per cent annual pay increase, with an upfront first-year wage rise of 15 per cent to make-up for three-and-a-half years of wage freezes. "These workers should not keep suffering after the anguish they've been through, and it's up to Qantas to ensure they're paid what they are owed quickly and efficiently."
